One of the leading enterprises of Podporozhye district, the Svir Shipyard OJSC was founded in 1945 and has kept working successfully to this day, building hovercraft, ferro-concrete moorings and developing its wood-processing facility.

The basic direction of activities of the Svir Shipyard OJSC in Podporozhye is shipbuilding, however, from recent years the company has also developed timber cutting and wood-processing facilities. Nevertheless, the shipyard is famous first of all for its hovercraft and moorings.

Service and transport hovercraft Puma and Argo can move over the water and ice and are distinguished for their high reliability. Main customers of the shipyard for construction of such hovercraft are the units of EMERCOM and of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The hovercraft constructed by the company in Podporozhye operate in many regions of Russia - in Kamchatka, Nadym, Irkutsk, Kaliningrad and Saint-Petersburg.
Capacities of the shipyard allow to perform orders of state organizations and private persons. In this way, the Svir shipyard has constructed two boats this year under the order of EMERCOM and finishes construction of the third one under the order of a private person. Moorings constructed by the shipyard consist of three pontoons and are intended for berthing and mooring of vessels. They may be installed practically anywhere because they do not need a concrete berthing (continental) wall. Full length of a mooring makes 108 meters, width - 9 meters.
Ferro-concrete moorings are basically manufactured in line with the orders from the Ministry of Defence. Now the shipyard is finishing construction of the second mooring for this year. In future, the company plans not only to perform orders of the Ministry of Defence but also to develop manufacture under private orders.
